Travel Grants Award Opportunities for Graduate Students

Travel Grants assist UCR graduate students with travel expenses related to their research or enable them to present works at professional meetings. Students may apply for a grant to fund travel that has occurred during the six previous months or travel that will occur within the following 6 months. Grants may be used only for transportation costs to and from the meeting or place of research.

Deadline: Monday, February 1 at 5:30 PM

Amount: Maximun award is US$400. Funds are awarded in the Winter quarter.

Criteria: This program assists UCR graduate students with travel expenses related to their research (at the dissertation or pre-dissertation levels) on bodies and movement, performance, and dance.  It aims to enable students to present works (papers, choreographies, videos, etc) at professional conferences, workshops, and festivals.  Students may also apply for a grant to fund travel to a research site.  Travels occurred six months prior to the deadline or within the next six months are eligible.  Awards may be used only for transportation costs to and from professional meetings or research locations.

Application materials: Submit the following materials in hard copy:

  • Travel Grant Cover Sheet
  • Abstract (1-3 pages)
  • Curricullum Vitae
  • Letter of invitation or acceptance (applicable for presentations at conferences and festivals)
  • Letter of recommendation from a faculty member, in sealed envelope.

Students will receive funds from the byped Research Platform as reimbursement of travel expenses upon submission of approved proof of travel costs (airline ticket stub, and/or ground transportation).   When applicable, recipients should submit receipts for reimbursement within ten days after return from travel.
